Henry Zuccarello is an award-winning composer, arranger, and trombonist hailing from Boston, Massachusetts.

First picking up the trombone at age 9, Zuccarello has been married to the instrument ever since. His journey as a composer began soon after, as he taught himself how to use notation software at age 12. By 16, he was an active participant in the New England Conservatory Preparatory School’s Jazz program, earning a Level IV Jazz Certificate and the NEC Prep Jazz Department Award at the time of his graduation. In 2021, as he graduated high school, Zuccarello received a YoungArts award in jazz composition, and won two DownBeat Student Music Awards in the Original Large Ensemble Composition and Jazz Arrangement categories.

Zuccarello will graduate from the jazz studies program Oberlin Conservatory in 2025 with a double major in jazz composition and jazz trombone performance, having studied under Jay Ashby, Gerald Cannon, and Dr. Eddie Henderson. During his time at Oberlin, he has had the opportunity to work and perform with many jazz luminaries such as Gerald Cannon, Dan Wall, Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, and Justin Robinson. Outside of his formal education, he has also studied privately under composers John Wallace and Bob Pilkington.

In 2023, Zuccarello’s transcription and engraving services were enlisted by the Celebrity Series of Boston for their Jazz Along the Charles festival. In the spring of 2024, Zuccarello arranged J. J. Johnson’s “Kelo” and “Boneology” for performances by renowned trombonists Steve Davis and Andre Hayward with the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble and Oberlin Jazz Trombone Choir, in celebration of Johnson’s centennial. In the fall of 2024, Zuccarello was selected to become a member of the prestigious Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble and performed with the group at Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center in January 2025.
